Fono is operated by SKML LLC, a California limited liability company (“SKML LLC”, “we”, “us”, “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how SKML LLC collects, uses, and protects information when you use Fono.
Who we serve
Fono provides missed-call recovery and AI voice ordering services to restaurants. Two groups of people interact with Fono:
- Restaurant operators (“Customers”) who use Fono to recover missed calls and manage their phone presence.
- End users (“Callers”) who call participating restaurants and may be routed to Fono when the restaurant cannot answer.
What we collect
From Customers:
- Account information: name, email, phone number, business name, business address.
- Configuration data: callback numbers, operating hours, notification preferences.
From Callers:
- Phone number (caller ID).
- Voice recordings of voicemail messages left for the restaurant.
- SMS conversation content related to callback follow-ups.
How we use information
- To route calls and deliver callback messages to Customers on behalf of Callers.
- To send transactional SMS messages confirming missed calls and callback timing.
- To maintain service quality and troubleshoot issues.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use Caller information for marketing.
SMS / Text Messaging
Program name: Fono SMS
Fono sends transactional SMS on behalf of participating restaurants: (a) one-time missed-call acknowledgments when a customer calls and the call cannot be answered, and (b) order confirmations after a customer places an order through the Fono voice assistant.
Message frequency varies and is transactional only. Fono does not send recurring or marketing messages.

Mobile opt-in information and phone numbers are never shared with or sold to third parties for marketing purposes.

Data sharing
We share information with service providers (Twilio, Cloudflare, Anthropic, AWS) who help us operate Fono. These providers are bound by confidentiality and may not use information for their own purposes.
We may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, or to protect rights and safety.
Data retention
Voice recordings and call logs are retained as long as the Customer’s account is active, plus a reasonable period for analytics and dispute resolution. Customers may request deletion of specific recordings or data at any time.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing privacy@fono.services. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Contact us at the address below to exercise those rights.
Security
We use industry-standard security including encryption in transit and at rest, restricted access controls, and regular security review. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Fono is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. Updated versions will be posted at fono.services/privacy with a revised “Last updated” date.
