Messaging Program

SMS Opt-In

Fono Messaging Program — operated by SKML LLC (DBA Fono)

The Fono Messaging Program sends transactional SMS only to people who call a participating restaurant that uses Fono. There are no marketing or promotional messages. This page describes exactly how a caller opts in, what messages they may receive, and how to stop them. The program is operated by SKML LLC (DBA Fono) on behalf of participating restaurants.

How callers opt in (consent)

A caller consents to receive transactional text messages by calling a participating restaurant’s published phone number and staying on the line through the spoken disclosure. Before any text is sent, Fono’s voice assistant tells the caller that a text will be sent to their number and that they can reply STOP to opt out. The exact words a caller hears are shown verbatim in each path below.

Messages go only to the phone number the caller used to reach the restaurant, and only in direct response to that call. Consent is per the caller’s own action of placing the call; the caller can revoke it at any time by replying STOP.

What callers may receive

There are two transactional message paths. In both, {restaurant} is the name of the restaurant the caller dialed.

1. Missed-call recovery

Triggered when the restaurant cannot pick up and the caller does not leave a voicemail.

What the caller hears (verbatim)
“We’re sorry, {restaurant} is busy right now. We’ll text you shortly at this number with a callback time. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to that text any time to opt out. Thank you for calling.”
Sample text message
Sorry we missed your call at {restaurant}. A team member will call you back within 15 minutes. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

2. Voicemail receipt

Triggered when the caller leaves a voicemail for the restaurant.

What the caller hears (verbatim, before the tone)
“Sorry we missed your call at {restaurant}. Please leave a message after the tone, and we’ll text you at this number when we follow up. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to that text any time to opt out.”
Sample text message
Thanks for your message to {restaurant}. We received it and will call you back shortly. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

Message frequency

Messages are recurring as triggered by the caller’s own actions, typically 1–3 messages per call. No marketing or promotional messages are sent through this program.

Message and data rates

Message and data rates may apply. Carrier rates depend on the caller’s mobile plan.
